The Manufacturing Process of Hex Bolts
Raw material selection
Usually, manufacturing hex bolt need to use high-quality steel or stainless steel, this is because these two materials are strength and durability. Workers cut the material into appropriate lengths to form the blank bolts, then heat the blank bolts to make them malleable for further processing.
Bolt head forming
The heads of the bolts are formed with a forging process, the heated blanks will place into a die and struck with a hammer. The hammer forces the metal to fill the die and forms the hexagonal shape of the bolt head. This step is momentous since it determines the strength and shape of the bolt head.
Thread processing
Then the bolt goes to threading process. This involves cutting threads into the shaft of the bolt. There are two common methods for this: rolling and cutting. In rolling, the bolt is pressed between two threaded dies which force the metal to form threads. In cutting, a lathe machine cuts the threads into the bolt shaft. These process produces high-quality threads to ensure a secure fit when the bolt is used.
Thread cutting
