Guidelines for installing rivet nuts
Drill a Hole: A hole is drilled in the material where the rivet nut will be installed. The hole diameter must match the specifications for the rivet nut being used.
Place the Rivet Nut: The rivet nut is inserted into the drilled hole, with the flange resting on the material's surface.
Thread the Mandrel: The installation tool has a threaded mandrel that matches the internal threads of the rivet nut. The mandrel is threaded into the rivet nut.
Pull the Mandrel: The tool pulls the mandrel towards the material surface, which causes the unthreaded portion of the rivet nut body to deform and expand.
Forming the Bulb: As the mandrel is pulled, the body of the rivet nut is compressed, causing it to bulge outwards and grip the backside of the material. This bulge creates a solid mechanical lock that firmly holds the rivet nut.
Release the Tool: Once the rivet nut is securely installed, the installation tool is removed by unthreading the mandrel.
Ready for Use: The rivet nut now provides a robust and threaded connection in the thin material, prepared to accept a bolt or screw.
