Square bolts, due to their square head structure (distinct from common hexagonal bolts), have unique advantages in terms of fastening performance and adaptability to application scenarios. Their core features can be summarized from multiple dimensions such as structure, performance, and application as follows:
I. Structural Design Features
Square head: The head is in a square shape, with four right-angle sides forming a symmetrical plane. It has a larger contact area with the wrench (or special tool) and is less likely to slip during clamping. It is especially suitable for scenarios that require high torque application.
The connection between the head and the screw: The head and the screw are mostly integrally forged (or cast), with a high overall structural strength. They can withstand lateral shear force and axial tensile force, and are less likely to break due to excessive force.
Flexible adaptability: The side length of the square head can be designed according to requirements (such as micro bolts as small as a few millimeters to heavy-duty bolts as large as tens of centimeters), and is compatible with different specifications of wrenches or tooling fixtures.


Ii. Fastening and anti-loosening performance
High torque transmission: The flat contact of the square head enables the wrench to apply torque more stably. Compared with hexagonal bolts, it is less likely to cause head deformation or slippage due to uneven force distribution, making it suitable for scenarios that require high-strength fastening (such as heavy machinery connections).
Strong anti-rotation ability: In vibration and shock environments, the square head can limit its own rotation by adhering to the plane of the connected part (or embedding in the groove). When used in conjunction with anti-loosening nuts, the anti-loosening effect is superior to that of ordinary bolts.
Uniform stress dispersion: The contact between the head and the connected part is a surface contact (rather than the edge contact of a hexagonal bolt), which can disperse the stress during fastening and reduce damage to the surface of the connected part (such as avoiding the steel plate from being "dented").


Iii. Adaptability to usage scenarios
Good spatial adaptability: In narrow, irregular or obstructed Spaces, force can be applied by clamping any two adjacent planes of the square head with a wrench, solving the problem that hexagonal bolts are difficult to insert into the wrench due to space limitations (such as protruding structures around).
Maintenance convenience: Even if the head surface shows signs of rust and wear due to long-term use, the square structure can still be effectively engaged with a wrench through two planes, making it easier to disassemble than hexagonal bolts (especially in harsh environments such as outdoors and in damp conditions).
Versatility: The heads of some square bolts can be designed with special structures such as holes and grooves, serving both fastening and positioning functions (for instance, for precise installation of equipment).
