The development history of Thread Rod is a continuous process of innovation and evolution:

Early application stage: The history of  Thread Rod can be traced back to a long time ago. Initially, they were applied in some simple mechanical devices, such as grape and olive presses, etc. At that time, the structure of lead screws was relatively simple, similar to sliding Thread Rod, mainly achieving certain squeezing or pushing functions through rotation, but the precision and efficiency were relatively low.

The standardization stage of sliding Thread Rod: In the 1850s, a type of sliding Thread Rod that met specific standards - ACME Thread Rod- emerged. ACME lead screws have certain standard specifications and have been more widely applied in mechanical transmission. Their emergence has made the application of sliding lead screws in industrial production more standardized and popular, providing certain support for the development of mechanical manufacturing.

The Rise of ball screws: In 1874, ball screws were invented. Their design concept was to place steel balls between the nut and the screw, replacing sliding friction with rolling friction to improve the problems of poor positioning and easy damage of traditional screws. However, due to the excessively high manufacturing difficulty at that time, a systematic design theory and manufacturing process flow were not formed, so it was not widely applied on a large scale. It was not until 1940 that General Motors first applied finished ball screws to automotive steering mechanisms. This application marked the entry of ball screw research into the industrialization stage, making it gradually gain attention and be widely promoted. In 1961, NSK Company first applied precision ball screws to machine tools, effectively enhancing the machining accuracy of machine tools. Since then, ball screws have been widely used in precision machinery fields such as machine tools, promoting the development of the mechanical processing industry towards high precision. In the late 1990s, as the manufacturing industry's demands for precision and efficiency continued to rise, ball screws also developed towards greater precision and higher speed, further increasing market demand.

Overall, the development of lead screws has been continuously evolving along with the advancement of industrial technology. From the initial simple sliding lead screws to high-precision and high-efficiency ball screws and planetary roller screws, etc., their performance and application fields have been constantly expanding and improving, playing an increasingly important role in modern industry.
